In the busyness of life, it’s easy for couples to feel like ships passing in the night, lucky to squeak out a coherent conversation at the end of the day. As it turns out, however, connection is an incredibly important aspect of marriage that secures satisfaction and stability over the long haul.

Join counselor Miriam Bott for a marriage workshop where we look at small, tangible ways to cultivate connection weekly that will make a big impact on your relationship.

A simple and delicious way to support our teams!

The Lord has placed us at Regency, right at the crossroad of where thousands of immigrant and refugee families are located. After learning more about the needs of these relocated families, we are teaming up with our neighbor at the other end of the mall, the Henrico County Adult Learning Center, to cohost a Resource Fair to provide a way to meet and become familiar with the many agencies and ministries in our area that can help meet these numerous needs. 

The Resource Fair

The event will be held at the Henrico Country Adult Learning Center at Regency on Tuesday, April 16, from 5:30 - 7:30 pm with groups like Crossover, Third Church Immigrant and Refugee Tutoring, ESL at West End Pres and WEAG, Christian Arabic Church, Re-Establish Richmond, GRTC, and many other private and county organizations. 

How can you help? 

• Be in prayer for relationships to be developed and for fruitful connections to be built for these families to receive the help they need in negotiating life in a new and different culture. 

• Volunteer for hospitality (refreshments and helping people find the Learning Center), as language interpreters, and for set up and clean up.

Author and speaker Kaitlyn Schiess will be with us on Sunday, April 7 to share on spiritual formation, the tension of politics and the big picture of God’s Kingdom to prepare us for this national election year. Kaitlyn is the author of The Liturgy of Politics, a regular co-host of the Holy Post podcast and doctoral candidate at Duke Divinity School.

Join us at 10:00 a.m. for a Sunday Forum between services as we discuss the tension of our call to love of our neighbors, which is a political act, and the anxiety, anger, apathy or annoyance many of us feel about politics today.

Join us for lunch with Kaitlyn following the 11AM service downstairs in the common area. She will discuss her most recent book, The Ballot and The Bible, and the use and misuse of Scripture throughout our political history.

Join us for this simple midday service of silence, prayer, and Scripture reading, meditating on the suffering and death of Jesus using the tradition of the Stations of the Cross. Noon, in the lower level of our Regency space.

Art Installation and Prayer
1:00 - 7:00 p.m.

The first floor of our Regency space will be open with an installation of artist Scott Erickson's "Seven Last Sayings of Jesus on the Cross" available for viewing and meditation. Our first floor gathering space will be open for all to come, contemplate Jesus's crucifixion, and receive prayer.

Young Adults!

Looking to connect with other young people at Third? Join us for lunch at a nearby home right after the 11:00 a.m. service on Sunday, March 24th. The lunch is free and there will be pickleball, come to play or just chill. All are welcome!

A Service of Palms and Passion

This Sunday we will celebrate God’s goodness to us and all the gifts and prayers given to the Renew Campaign.

Join us at 10 o'clock for a party in the first-floor gathering space where we'll joyfully announce what has been given! All adult, student, and children's Sunday School will be canceled for the week so everyone can participate in the festivities. (Childcare for kindergarten and younger will still be available at 10:00 a.m.)

What does it look like to flourish in the later seasons of life?

This six-session course will help you understand how to flourish in the third third of your life. Anchored in Scripture and enriched by science and other disciplines, this course will equip you to live faithfully and fruitfully and experience abundant and purposeful life in this season.

Each week, you will watch a video lecture, discuss that week’s topic in small groups, and engage in some individual study and reflection at home.

This meeting is open to all women. We want to especially encourage women who feel on the margins to join us— single moms, single women, those managing crises or working through a divorce or separation. For anyone who wants to come and pray in community: come and be encouraged.

It’s true. You can sing, color, pray, write, meditate, walk, and more. Come discover this ancient practice with us during the Lenten Season.

This event will open our hearts to the Lord and let him heal our brokenness. In this season of Lent, join us for a time of worship, biblical reflection, and practicing lament as we join Jesus in the wilderness. Let us pour out our hearts, exposing to our Father who loves us, our broken places, constant temptations, and need for control in an out-of-control world. God calls us to lament for the unseen places in our hearts, the people in our lives, and the atrocities in the world. He wants to bring us to a place of trust, wholeness, and peace.

We’re opening our Sanctuary at Regency for quiet prayer and imposition of ashes.

Join us for this opportunity to come before God, pray and confess, acknowledge both our frailty and mortality, and meet God’s loving kindness there.

Drop by our Sanctuary anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m on Ash Wednesday for a quiet time of reflection and prayer, as well as the imposition of ashes.

Do you love to sing but are too busy for a weekly singing commitment??

Have you ever come up to sing the Hallelujah Chorus with us on Easter?

We would like to create an opportunity for a Mass Choir to lead our church in a song of praise on Sunday February 11. The Mass choir will be singing an extremely beloved staple from the Black American Church, "Total Praise."

This is an epic song and we need lots of voices to make it as glorious as possible! We'll have two Saturday morning rehearsals to work through the music together. All ages are welcome as long as you can read words! (If you don't read music, it's okay! We'll help you!) If you've ever wanted to be a part of singing with a big group in church, this is your moment!

If you are looking for deeper and more significant conversations with others, especially in connecting over the struggles of life, join us for this workshop!

This training is a one-day introduction to the foundational principles of The Barnabas Model, which considers the human heart and human relationships within a Biblical framework. Barnabas staff counselors offer lectures that explore our longings as human beings, our inherent dignity and depravity, our efforts to manage our inevitable disappointments, and the hope that the love of God brings to the broken world.

The content includes lectures and an interactive small group experience, plus a take-home reflection to practically apply the principles to one real-life friendship. Barnabas Basic offers an excellent introduction to our multi-level Barnabas Training Groups, which equip people to pursue redemptive conversations with others who are facing difficult times in life and faith.

Celebrate our Church Partnerships!

Our partnerships with the Christian Arabic Church here in Richmond and our sister church, El Sharabia Church, in Cairo, Egypt, are central to the fabric of who we are at Third Church. Our pastors and anyone who has had the opportunity to visit Egypt would tell you that this partnership offers meaningful encouragement, profound inspiration, and mutual support as our three churches minister in very different contexts.

After several years of delay due to the pandemic, we are thrilled to finally welcome our friends from Egypt to visit us here in Richmond! Please join us for a celebratory luncheon to honor these friends and our partnership, to hear about life and ministry in Cairo, and to learn how you can participate in this partnership, too.

Come and see our construction progress and give thanks and praise for God’s provision and faithfulness!

You're invited to sign up for a tour through the main level of our old church building on Forest Avenue that is undergoing renovation during our time at Regency. You’ll have an opportunity to write scripture verses—or your own praises—on the concrete floor of the old Sanctuary. We want to literally build on a foundation of scripture as we prepare to return to this building later this year.

There are limited spots, so please sign up soon if you would like to participate.

Important instructions: Please park in the Fellowship Hall parking lot. A member of our Renew Campaign team will be waiting outside to meet you. Once all visitors have arrived for their scheduled time, we will proceed to the Fellowship Hall to receive hard hats and safety instructions prior to the tour. Everyone must wear closed-toe shoes (no flip flops, sandals or high heels). That’s right… We’re talking about THE TALK

Talking to our kids about sex, birth, body safety, pornography, and other related topics can feel very overwhelming and awkward at times, but we all know how important it is. They'll learn about these things at some point (sooner than we think), and as their parents, we want to be the first place they hear about it.

During the workshop, we'll watch and discuss short videos from the Birds & the Bees curriculum which gives very practical steps on how to begin and continue this conversation with our kids throughout their childhood. We'll also have the opportunity to learn from each other if anyone would like to share experiences (or funny anecdotes) they've had while talking with their kids about sex. The curriculum is geared toward young children through preteens, but the information can easily be scaled to use for teens as well.
