"The Laboratory and the Cathedral" with Dr. Francis Collins

  • Third Church 600 Forest Avenue Richmond, VA, 23229 United States (map)

Join us for an evening with Dr. Francis Collins exploring how our faith integrates with science

Dr. Francis Collins, M.D., Ph.D. is a physician and geneticist, and one of the best-known scientists of the current era. From 1993-2003, he led the international Human Genome Project which successfully sequenced the complete human DNA. He is also the longest-serving presidentially appointed NIH director, spanning three U.S. presidential administrations (Obama, Trump, and Biden).

A committed Christian, Dr Collins is the author of the best-selling book The Language of God: A Scientist Presents Evidence for Belief, and is also the founder of the BioLogos Foundation, which exists to demonstrate the harmony of faith and science.

At Third Church, our mission states that we are called together for the renewal of all things through Jesus Christ. Because we believe that the gospel encompasses all of life, we are excited to learn from Dr. Collins about how our faith  integrates with science, calling us into a more curious, engaged and generative posture toward the sciences and toward all of life itself.
