Nonfiction - Who Shall Ascend the Mountain of the Lord? by L. Michael Morales

What is your favorite thing about Richmond? There is an abundance of coffee shops just begging to be tried. But also, my wife and I love just going for walks in the Fan and Museum district and coming up on quaint little shops and restaurants we never noticed before.

Tell us more about you, your family, and what you like to do when you’re not working: I was born and raised in the Richmond area and currently live here with my wife Sarah and son Liam. In 2023 I decided to go back to school and am currently pursuing a Masters in Old Testament with plans to go on to a Ph.D. after that (if you have any tips, please let me know).

I love producing and making music, both for myself and with other artists, and have had the privilege to produce several projects with different artists around town over the years. If I have a spare moment, I’m probably researching some niche topic for the week. I can tell you more than anyone should reasonably know about the excavation of the catacombs at the Vatican.

Why are you excited to be a part of Third Church? One of the first things that drew us to Third was the vibrant sense of community that exists here. Ultimately, my wife and I are excited to be a part of Third because this feels like a place that is truly modeling the communal body of Christ in caring for one another and living out the Christian mission in the day-to-day.
