We will be holding a congregational meeting on November 15 at 12:15 p.m. in our Sanctuary for the purpose of:
Electing governing and parish elders, deacons, and trustees;
Electing the Nominating Committee for 2027;
Voting on proposed changes to our Bylaws;
Voting to on a change of call for Assistant Pastor Elisabeth Hayes;
Sharing an update regarding our campus plans.
The meeting will be held immediately following the 11:00 a.m. service. We will live stream the meeting so that those who cannot attend can observe the meeting but voting will only be available to those present in-person at the meeting.
In preparation of the meeting, we ask that you do the following:
Review the incoming officers up for election.
Review the proposed changes in Bylaws and proposed change of call for Elisabeth Hayes, detailed below.
Be prepared to vote!
Proposed Bylaw Changes
As a corporation, Third Church has Bylaws that govern some of the day-to-day operational issues of the entity.
Periodically, we adjust our Bylaws to reflect best practices and/or practical changes we think are wise. Our current proposed changes reflect some practical changes related to the term “chief financial officer”.
The current Bylaws define the role of the entity’s Treasurer, in part, as the “chief financial officer” and provide a detailed definition of “Chief Financial Officer”.
The changes that we will be voting on during the November 15 meeting propose removing “chief financial officer” from the duties of the Treasurer and removing the role of “Chief Financial Officer” as an officer of the church corporation.

Proposed Change of Call
During our meeting, we will vote to change Elisabeth Hayes’ pastoral status from Assistant Pastor to Associate Pastor.
The difference between the two roles are small and technical but have some significant differences.
In brief, an Assistant Pastor is called (hired) by the Session, whereas an Associate Pastor is called (hired) by the congregation through a vote, and would then serve as a voting member of the Session.
Elisabeth has held the role of Assistant Pastor for three years and has demonstrated a deep commitment to Third and love for our people. She herself greatly desires to be called by the whole community for this work.

Nominated Officers
Beginning in January 2026, the Nominating Committee encouraged congregational nominations for those who might serve in the offices of elder, deacon and trustee.
Please prayerfully consider each candidate for each office and ask the Lord to complete his guidance for discerning those who would lead us at Third.
