Annual Second Grade Bible Presentation and Dinner

Faith Milestone for 2nd Graders and their families

You have been taught the Holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus.  All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach what is true to make us realize what is wrong in our lives.  It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip His people to do every good work.  2 Timothy 3:15-17

On Sunday, October 26th, second grade children and their families gathered in the Fellowship Hall for the annual Bible presentation and dinner.  This event is one of Third’s Faith Milestones and is just one of the ways Third desires to come alongside parents to help equip, encourage and empower families to spend time in God’s word.  Our prayer is that each child would become a person within whom the Word of God dwells richly!

Second Graders received a personalized Adventure Bible, presented by Pastor Steve Hartman.  Kathy Ames gave the children three ribbons and asked them to mark three separate passages: John 3:16, to remember that Jesus died for them, 2 Kings 22:2, as a reminder that even young children can be called by God to do incredible things, and then she encouraged them to find and mark their own favorite passage of Scripture.  Mr. Jimey led the children in some of their favorite Sunday morning worship songs.

This event is a beautiful opportunity to get God’s Word into the hands of these emerging readers and has become something each child looks forward to with anticipation and excitement.

The evening after the celebration dinner, one of our moms found her daughter reading her new Bible by book light at bedtime.  A grandfather who attended told me he thought it was a great way to encourage the children to dig into the Word and that his granddaughter had been really excited.  Blake Ingold told his mom he was happy to have his own Bible so he could spend his own time with God!
