Hope for Our Relationships

For Meditation

God's not dead, He's alive! The Kingdom of God has dawned--God's new world has been initiated here on Earth. So why does life still seem.... so much the same? Why do marriages still fall apart? Why do sons stop talking to their fathers? Why do friendships fracture over Facebook posts and political stances? Why do church leaders choose power over protecting their congregations? Why are grocery shoppers hunted and killed because of the color of their skin?

Each week since Easter we've been exploring the ways that the resurrection of Jesus Christ changes everything about our life here and now, even as we long for the full consummation of the Kingdom here on Earth. This week, we'll ask what hope the resurrection offers for our broken relationships... What does the resurrection mean for our fractured families and friendships? For our polarized society? For our divided church communities? We'll learn that because God reconciled us to Himself, not only do we have hope for complete reconciliation with one another in the coming kingdom, but that we are being transformed into agents of reconciliation even now, in the midst of this broken world.

Galatians 3:26–29

26 So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, 27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
