Describe your primary responsibilities at Third:
As Director of Music, I am involved with worship planning for all services, direct choirs, oversee our comprehensive music ministry, and help provide pastoral care.
What are your favorite books?
Some of my favorite books are The Shack by William Young; A Grace Disguised by Jerry Sittser; and True Worship by Don Hustad.
Tell us about your family and hobbies:
I am blessed with a talented family. My wife, Marilee, serves in the executive office of the Baptist General Association of Virginia. My children are: Michael, a personal trainer at ACAC; David a recent Theoretical Math graduate of VCU and Arabic speaker; Rebekah a singer/songwriter in Nashville that has over 30 song placements in circulation.
My favorite things to do in my personal time are golf and traveling.
Where do you see God moving at Third?
I see God bringing a diverse congregation together in many ways, particularly in worship. With limited worship space it is essential for us to have multiple services. That gives us an opportunity to utilize a wide variety of musical gifts in the different services. In a recent Hymn Sing program we had an orchestra including, brass, woodwinds, strings, percussion and an accordion! What an exciting way to combine our gifted participants.
