We all have questions about God, faith, and purpose.

Maybe you've seen Explore God billboards around town, or you heard an ad on the radio, and you wondered what it's all about. Starting in September, we at Third Church, as well as other ministries across denominations around Richmond, will explore these big questions through discussion groups and sermon series. Explore God is a unique effort to come together to look at these questions in an open, authentic way.

From September 11 through October 23, we'll Explore God together, ask the hard questions, and engage honestly.

We'll be discussing one of the 7 Big Questions (listed below) each week during our regular Sunday morning services. We'll also be hosting discussion groups, and posting new content and videos to learn, question, engage, and ask more questions.

What are the big questions?

Each week, we'll update this page with new articles, discussion guides, videos, and sermon audio for you to use individually or with a small group. Check back!

WEEK 1: Does Life Have a Purpose

WEEK 2: Is There a God?

WEEK 3: Why Does God Allow Pain and Suffering?

WEEK 4: Is Christianity Too Narrow?

WEEK 5: Is Jesus Really God?

WEEK 6: Is the Bible Reliable?

WEEK 7: Can I Know God Personally?

None of us have it all figured out and these questions around God are arguably some of the most important questions we should all explore. So we invite you to join us in the conversation.

Join a discussion group (starting Sept. 11):

Use the discussion group finder to explore dozens of groups happening in Richmond or join one of ours!

Sunday mornings: 10:00 a.m., Fellowship Hall at 600 Forest Avenue

Village Men: Friday mornings, 7:30 a.m., Martin's at the Village Shopping Center: 7035 Three Chopt Rd, Richmond, 23226

Recovery Community Group: Wednesday, 6:00 p.m., at 500 Forest Avenue
Come enjoy a free simple meal and group discussion using the Explore God “7 Questions."  We would love to have you join other men and women who are exploring recovery from an addiction, deep hurt, persistent habit or dependency as we delve deeper into an exploration of “higher power” through the Christian faith. Come any Wednesday you can as the group is open and we will look at a new topic each week. Free childcare is provided by Third Church next door. Arrangements for childcare and any questions can be directed to Mary Damon at 804-389-1836 or Robin Lafon at 804-839-0988.
